Foundations

Morton and his family firmly believe in the Jewish philosophy of Tzedakah – the Hebrew word for the obligation to help others. They pursue Tzedakah projects through their two family foundations, the MHM Family Fund and the Figure8 Fund.

These foundations focus on assisting underserved communities and individuals, providing access to basic human needs, and supporting Jewish organizations and programs.

The foundations primarily support small non-profit organizations with low administrative expenses and “change agent” leaders who are passionate, competent and kind.

The foundations do not accept unsolicited grant requests.

David

David Nathan Meyerson was an extraordinary man who affected the lives of many people. He amused; he enraged; he cajoled; he provoked; he helped; he challenged; he comforted; he entertained. He repaired the world. Life is fragile and time is short here on earth.

Marlene

Marlene Nathan Meyerson personified power in a tiny package. Her friends called her the “little general” and that nickname suited her well. She was her high school head cheerleader yet always had her nose in a book. She inherited a sense of style from her mother and father (Nathan’s Store in Galveston) and expanded it from clothes to art, design & architecture.

Marlene was the ultimate mother to David and Marti while balancing home life with a successful real estate career. She perfected grandmothering with Hannah, David, and Sandy and doted on Marti. Her flame was extinguished too early as she fought a mighty battle against ovarian cancer with grit, grace, and dignity. Her love for Morton, her family, and friends was abundant and unconditional and she was fiercely loyal like no other.
